Have you ever wonder why do we have to love one another?
Last week I kept thinking about this question. We all knew that it is the command of God for us to love each other, but sometimes when you were tired of loving some people, or tired of being in some situations, could you still love them, even with the frustrations and disappointments?
God always knows how to answer our question in the ways that could touch our hearts, and this time He has answered me by two great news. Last Friday night during the Christmas party, I got the news that one of my friend is pregnant, and they are going to have a new member in their family soon! Then that night after I went home, I got another great news that a girl who joined one of our cell groups recently has accepted Christ after the Christmas party! I was really excited and happy for my friends, and the joy has even refreshed my heart. It is so wonderful to see these new lives! It reminds me that new life coming to this world or entering into the Kingdom of God because of God's love and also the love from the people around them. And this is one of the reasons why we have to love.
God has also answered my question by reminding me His love and faithfulness, and the things that He has done for me this year. Every time when He shown me how great He is, I could not question anymore but rest in His love and faithfulness. "We love because He first loved us." (1 Jn 4:19) God is love, and He is the ultimate reason why we have to love.
Maybe sometimes God feels frustrated and disappointed with us too, but He has never and will never give up on loving us. I am thankful that He is the God who "will not grow tired or weary" (Is. 40:28), He loves us with an everlasting love.
"Father, I can't explain this kind of love, this kind of grace. I know, I still break Your heart and yet You run to welcome me.
This is my song of praise to You, for who You are and all that You do. From the moment my life began, You have been faithful. You have been faithful, forever faithful... Father." (Faithful Father, by Brian Doerksen)
